Since I’m a little behind writing journal posts… here I am on Memorial Day playing catch up! Can we quickly all just acknowledge that May is a whirlwind of a month!? Between work, school events, birthdays, and you know, just trying to exist, I feel like I blinked and the month is over! As promised, I am finally getting to share this Summer Newborn Session in Richmond for my friend and fellow photographer, Anna.
They welcomed their second son last summer after recently moving into their new home. Big brother and I had plenty to chat about between Thomas the Tank Engine and his new brother. I tell families all the time that when older siblings are still young themselves, we have to make room for breaks, snacks, games and a few cuddles along the way. John did a great job being patient while we took pictures with everyone inside. Some of my favorite images from their newborn session were actually in their front yard under the bows of a huge crepe myrtle tree when it was time to get some wiggles out. Morning sessions are always a must for newborn sessions, but especially in the summertime when it can easily be 80+ degrees by 11am. We were able to get outside in the backyard for some exploring, too, all while keeping cool!
