Romance blossomed in South America years ago when this gorgeous mama was serving with the Peace Corps in Peru. She met a handsome chef and they fell in love. After being married in Lima, they moved back home to mama’s native Virginia to grow their family. This cozy and vibrant newborn session ticked all of the boxes for me! A caring and connected family who incorporated personal and meaningful elements of their shared heritage into every aspect of their session? WIN WIN! Mama and big sister wore dresses provided by my client wardrobe and even baby brother was swaddled in one of my new favorite pieces to offer – this Beaufort Bonnet Company Silk Bow Swaddle.
Some of my favorite moments were captured around their light-filled breakfast nook. I loved how the modern and playful West Elm chandelier was a focal point for an impromptu concert by Dad. He started playing the Bluey themesong (at mine and Naomi’s request) and rocked it. How cool, right?! Fresh blooms plucked from the backyard offered a cheerful addition to the table. Their bedroom showcased beautiful framed memories from their travels. I loved the gallery-style display above their bed. In the nursery, a Peruvian rug provided a stunning backdrop for baby Sebastian’s solo portraits. We ended our session outside where a few of their hens joined us for family portraits. All in all, this family exuded everything about a dream session to me. The more of a personal story I can tell while in a client’s home, the better. They made my work so easy and enjoyable!
