Recently, I had the pleasure of capturing a newborn session where the spotlight was shared with older siblings, too. This sibling filled newborn session was all about making sure everyone felt included and valued, creating an experience that beautifully showcased the bond between siblings.

Creating a Child-Centric Experience

At the heart of my photography philosophy is the belief that every session should not only capture beautiful images, but create a meaningful experience for every member of the family. With this family’s newborn session, the spotlight was equally shared with the older siblings. From the moment we began, I made it a priority to connect with them, making them feel seen and involved. I place high value on the importance of connecting with children before and during sessions. That’s why I send out a questionnaire to my clients beforehand, specifically to learn about their children. In doing so, I am able to connect with what makes them laugh and what makes them feel comfortable. Whether there’s a new baby in the family or not, it’s essential for me to prioritize everyone, regardless how small. Also, I include time for breaks, snacks, and cuddles, recognizing that modeling can be hard work for little ones.
