I am pleased as punch that my very first Journal post is a Richmond Motherhood session for a friend and fellow photographer. Anna Kardos and I have become friends over the past few years as I assist her at her weddings on occasion. Her calm and gentle spirit inspire me in my photography, my motherhood, and ultimately, my faith. At every opportunity we spend together, I come away feeling refreshed; even if it’s after a wedding where I was stuck in an elevator for about 30 minutes with a groom and his 8 groomsmen. Yes, it involved Richmond’s finest coming to rescue us all. (Another story for another day, though!)
Anna graciously photographed my family after our second daughter was born in August of 2020 and I was thrilled to document their family a few weeks before her son turned 1 last fall. The fog rolled over the fields and I jokingly told Anna that I expected Mr. Darcy to come strolling across the field to us as the sun began to climb out from behind the trees. As a fellow Jane Austen lover, she found that to be pretty amusing. Of course, I began playing the Pride and Prejudice soundtrack on my phone as we got our session started.
This Misty Sunrise Motherhood Session was featured on The Fount Collective earlier this spring and I genuinely cried with joy. It felt like such an achievement and I was so glad it was for such a dear friend. It’s such an important milestone to remember and I always recommend adding this special session to my motherhood client’s. Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined how dreamy the light would be and how content Baby John was for the entire session. Y’all, having these images be the first to grace the pages of my brand new journal is so sweet. Thank you for coming alongside me as we embark on this new chapter of Kara Powers Photography!
