For Anna’s backyard spring maternity session, we utilized my yard, which features a beautiful old pear tree with a swing and crisp white sheets on my clothesline. My dogwood trees were in full bloom, so I snipped a few branches and added them to one of my favorite Plum + Sparrow baskets as a harbinger of new love just around the corner. Anna is a friend and fellow photographer here in Richmond. I actually worked as a second shooter for some of her weddings from 2020 through 2022! Her spirit is gentle and kind. These portraits of her feel so effortless and genuine. I love photographing her family as they grow because it is never hard to get them to connect in an authentic way. Her son brought his favorite dinosaur and car along. I always recommend you let your little ones bring along a comfort object or toy to their session. It can be a sweet reminder in years to come of their particular interests. And can we please talk about that baby cardigan? Such a little gentleman. Even daddy joined in on the fun of chasing their little one through the sheets!
Venue: My yard!
